Yes! We have dedicated Fundamentals classes designed specifically for beginners. These classes focus on:
- Basic movements and positions
- Essential techniques
- Proper safety and falling methods
- Core BJJ concepts
- Gradual progression at your own pace
For your first class, comfortable athletic clothing like a t-shirt and shorts or leggings is fine. We'll supply you with a fresh and clean BJJ gi (uniform) for your first class. Once you decide to join our VBJJ family, our memberships come with a FREE BJJ gi so you get started with everything you need.
No! You can start BJJ at any fitness level. Our classes are designed to help you gradually build strength, flexibility, and endurance. Many students find that their fitness naturally improves as they train.
Starting your journey is easy:
- Schedule a free trial class here
- Please arrive 10 minutes early to meet with us for us to answer any questions
- Put on a fresh & clean training uniform that we provide. And don't worry, we'll show you how to wear it properly
- Join your free trial class with one of our experienced instructors
We recommend starting with 2-3 classes per week. This allows your body to adjust to the new movements while maintaining consistent progress. As you become more comfortable, you can increase your training frequency depending on your chosen membership. If you decide you want to train more, let us know, and we'll let you know all your options.

We accept children starting from age 4 in our Kids Program. Classes are divided by age groups to ensure appropriate instruction and safe training:
- Kids Class (4-6 years)
- Youth Class (7-13 years)
Beginners and advanced youth students separate our youth classes. This ensures each youth student isn't held back or pushed forward based on their skill level.
