Meet Professor Beto Vilanova
Professor Beto Vilanova, a fourth-degree black belt, brings over two decades of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training and teaching.
Born and raised in Paraisopolis, Sao Paulo, Brazil, his journey in Jiu-Jitsu began early and was marked by perseverance through personal challenges. Despite contemplating leaving his training to support his family during his mother’s illness, Beto’s passion for Jiu-Jitsu remained steadfast.
In 2008, he achieved the prestigious rank of Black Belt, a testament to his dedication to the sport. Seeking new opportunities, Beto moved to California in 2010, where he continued his training while teaching and attending college. His competitive success includes securing top placements in over six major Jiu-Jitsu tournaments, culminating in a victory at the Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Championship in 2019.
Today, Beto Vilanova is the proud founder and head instructor at Vilanova Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a premier martial arts academy located in Camarillo, California. His mission is to share his deep knowledge of traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, cultivating discipline, confidence, and skill in students of all levels. Outside the academy, Beto enjoys life in Camarillo with his wife, Alicia, and their daughter, Amelia.
